Director's Corner

Welcome to the Director's Corner!

The past year has been an exciting one for our 38 million current and future customers, as the Department of Motor Vehicles has rolled out more new, alternative services than at any time during the DMV’s 96-year history.

Making an appointment with the DMV has never been easier. We’ve restructured our appointment system, offering more advance appointments than ever before. And, through the use of Appointment Notify, we’ll give you a reminder call three days prior to your scheduled appointment with us. If you’re contacting us by telephone, we’ll give you the option of receiving a call-back from a DMV customer service representative through our innovative Virtual Hold feature.

A new web link addition to Page 1, How Are We Doing? is designed for you to provide us feedback on our customer service, ways we can improve, or, pass along a compliment

There are now 35 new Self Service Terminals at DMV offices in San Diego, Orange County, the greater Los Angeles area, the Central Valley, the East Bay, and Sacramento region. These ATM-style kiosks are a great alternative to waiting in line because they can produce your registration cards and tags in just seconds. And, they accept all forms of payments.

Your California DMV has been on the front-edge of taking advantage of technologies as well. Our Android App allows customers to find a local office with real-time wait times and provides turn-by-turn directions based on the GPS location of the user’s Smartphone, take sample written driving tests, access a large library of DMV driver education videos, and, access other important DMV alerts. This app is also available on the iPhone, iPad and the iTouch.

Of course, DMV is available on Facebook and Twitter, where our customer service agents can direct-message and engage customers on all matters related to the department or, a specific customer issue. Or, you can call us by telephone at 800.777.0133, and any of our customer service representatives would be glad to assist.

Thanks for visiting, and please come back again soon,
