Former San Diego Area Vehicle Dealer Sentenced For Fraud (February 27, 2008)
Douglas Harding, who owned the defunct Autopia Auto Sales and Leasing in Escondido, was sentenced in San Diego District Court late Tuesday to three years state prison, three years probation, and ordered to pay more than $2.1 million to defrauded customers.

Escondido Dealer Pleads Guilty To Multiple Misdemeanors; Sentencing Set For Early March (January 31, 2008)
Investigators for the California Dept. of Motor Vehicles confirmed today that 54-year old Patrick Poulain, one of the owners of the defunct Escondido Mitsubishi, which was located at 876 N. Broadway, Escondido has pleaded guilty in San Diego County Superior Court to eight counts of failure to transfer ownership and accepted a preliminary sentence of one day in jail, three years of formal probation and ordered to pay his victims $40,000 in restitution. Poulain will be formally sentenced on Friday, March 7, 2008.
Technology Driving DMV Customers to Conduct Business on the Internet (January 28, 2008)
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today a significant increase in customers using the DMV online services. In 2007, over 6.6 million customers used online DMV transaction services, an increase of 25 percent from 2006. Since 2003, DMV customers have been able to renew their driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations as well as make address changes and register to vote all from the comfort of their home computers.
Ventura DMV Office Closes Due to Recent Storms (January 16, 2008)
The Ventura office of the California Department of Motor Vehicles, located at 4260 Market Street, will be closed indefinitely, effective Thursday, Jan. 17, due to damages incurred by last week’s storms.
California Responds To Final REAL ID Act Regulations (January 11, 2008)
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that the final regulations to the federal REAL ID Act have been released by the Department of Homeland Security. The Act, which sets minimum standards for U.S. driver licenses, is scheduled to take effect May 11, 2008.
