Natural Disaster Assistance

Natural Elements 1

When a fire, earthquake, flood, or other natural disaster strikes, we at DMV do whatever we can to help Californians who have been affected.

Local Assistance Centers

Working with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), DMV helps Californians affected by natural disasters at Local Assistance Centers (LACs). At these centers, DMV helps Californians replace or re-apply for the following, all free of charge:

  • Driver’s licenses
  • Identification cards
  • Vehicle registration and titles
  • Disabled person parking placards
  • License plates and stickers

In addition, customers may:

  • Submit vehicle disposal paperwork
  • Request driver’s record printouts
  • Process a change of address

Details about LACs are released as information becomes available. All of these services are also available for free at DMV offices to residents impacted by natural disasters.
