DMV to Close San Bernardino Driver Safety Office

Sacramento – To improve efficiency and to better serve the evolving needs of customers as part of its digital transformation, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is closing the Driver Safety Office in San Bernardino, located at 1845 Business Center Drive Suite 211. The office will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 6.

The DMV’s Driver Safety Office (DSO) recently implemented a new Case Management System (CMS) to streamline work processes, improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and enhance overall operations. The modern digital system provides drivers, as well as their attorneys, with a more convenient way to interact with the DSO by eliminating the need to call or visit an office to request or conduct a hearing, as well as to check the status of a case or requirements to reinstate a suspended driver license. The new system does not involve basic driver licensing or vehicle registration services.

With the implementation of the CMS, it is no longer efficient or cost effective for the DMV to have a DSO field office in 17 different locations. Accordingly, we are closing and/or consolidating offices statewide.

San Bernardino team members will be reassigned to nearby DMV locations and customers can still visit a DSO at the following area locations:

  • Covina, 1365 N Grand Ave Ste 101 (40 miles)
  • Commerce, 5801 E Slausen Ave Ste 250 (58 Miles)

El DMV ha tomado varias medidas para ofrecer más servicios digitales. La mayoría de los trámites del DMV no requieren una visita a la oficina, incluidas algunas transacciones simples de autoservicio que ya no están disponibles en las oficinas. El DMV invita a los clientes a utilizar los servicios en línea  y otros medios de servicio para completar transacciones, como pueden ser renovaciones elegibles de licencias de manejo y registro de vehículos. Los clientes también pueden usar el Asesor de Servicios on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

Para recibir notificaciones eléctronicas sobre renovaciones de registro de vehículos y licencias de manejo, los clientes pueden optar por este servicio al crear una cuenta segura en línea y registrándose en dmv.ca.gov y luego registrarse.
