FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 17, 2021

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles is alerting customers that the Goleta DMV field office at 7127 Hollister Avenue is reopening on Monday, June 21 at 8 a.m.

The office recently underwent improvements that included painting the interior and exterior of the building, adding new office furniture and flooring, upgrading internet cabling and ensuring the facility meets requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Area residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to apply for a REAL ID, which requires an office visit to complete the application. Starting May 3, 2023, you will need a REAL ID or another federally approved form of identification to board flights within the United States, and enter secure federal facilities and military bases.

Before going to the office, visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov to fill out the online application, upload necessary documents and print your confirmation code. Bring your documents and confirmation code to the DMV office to finalize your transaction – no appointment needed. Once at a service window, it now takes less than 10 minutes to complete the REAL ID transaction.

Complete Other Transactions Online

Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV continues to encourage customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

With more customers using online services, DMV offices have more space to accommodate Californians who need a REAL ID or complete other tasks that require an office visit.
