FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 31, 2022
Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles is notifying customers that the Susanville field office at 2615 Main Street is reopening on Thursday, September 8 at 8 a.m.
The office closed July 13 for renovations and improvements including new furniture, flooring, interior paint, and a new water fountain located in the lobby that will allow customers and team members to refill their water bottles.
Area residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to apply for a REAL ID, which requires an office visit to complete the application. Starting May 3, 2023, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will require a valid passport or other federally approved documents, like a REAL ID driver’s license or identification card, to board flights within the United States and access secure federal facilities and military bases.
Before going to the office, visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov to fill out the online application, upload necessary documents and print your confirmation code. Bring your documents and confirmation code to the DMV office to finalize your transaction – no appointment is needed. Once at a service window, it now takes less than 10 minutes to complete the REAL ID transaction.
Try Online First
Recently, the DMV has taken many steps to offer more digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages all customers to use its online services, and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to complete DMV tasks.
